Microsoft says it ‘has not removed any games from PlayStation’. This is stated after game designer Harvey Smith of Redfall maker Arkane stated in an interview that Microsoft canceled the development of Redfall for PS5 after the Bethesda takeover.

Microsoft has responded to Eurogamer. The tech giant denies that it has ‘taken games away from PlayStation’ and states that the opposite is true. The company references Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo; those have PS5 exclusivity periods of about a year. Minecraft is also mentioned. “Since our Minecraft deal, we have expanded the reach of that franchise,” the company said. A few days after the announcement of Mojang’s acquisition, Minecraft came to the PS Vita. Later, several Nintendo platforms followed.

With the statement, Microsoft seems to state that Smith’s statements are not true, although it is not a direct denial either. Smith stated on Wednesday: “We were bought by Microsoft and it was a change with a capital V. They came in and said ‘no PlayStation 5, we’re focusing on Xbox, PC and Game Pass’.”

In addition to the Xbox Series X and S, Redfall will also be released for Windows. Arkane always operated the PlayStation with his previous games Deathloop, Dishonored and Prey. That is no longer the case with Redfall.

Redfall will be released on May 2 and is a first-person shooter with fantasy elements. Players battle vampires and cult members who worship vampires. Player characters also have special powers and equipment of their own to introduce variety into the gameplay. The game can be played in single player or in co-op with up to four players.
