Microsoft adds experimental mouse support on Xbox One
A beta version of the Xbox One software has support for use with the mouse. Mouse input is possible with Minecraft, according to the first experiences. Microsoft has previously announced that not all games will have mouse support.
Windows Central’s Jez Corden noticed the mouse support following an update to Xbox One software within the Xbox Insider program, which Microsoft uses to test early builds of its operating system. Initial experiences show that there is quite a bit of input lag during use, which means that the necessary improvements are probably still needed.
The mouse can be used as input in Minecraft, Corden says. Mouse support can be turned on in the options menu. The user then only needs to connect a mouse via USB. The fact that mouse support can be turned on and off probably has to do with the competitive element; Microsoft has previously announced that it does not want controller users to play against mouse users.
Earlier this year it appeared that there might be support for the mouse. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has announced this. Support for input with USB keyboards is already there.
