Microsoft adds drag & drop tab support to Windows Terminal Preview
Microsoft has released version 1.11 of Windows Terminal Preview, which makes it possible, among other things, to drag folders and files to Windows Terminal and have them open in a new tab.
Users can drag a file or folder to the + button next to the tabs in Windows Terminal Preview version 1.11. The terminal will then immediately open a path to the folder or file in a new tab. When users hold down the alt key, the path to the folder or file appears as a new pane next to an already open tab. If users hold down the shift key, the file or folder opens in a new window.
The new Windows Terminal Preview version also includes other pane improvements, such as being able to move panes to new or existing tabs and swap pane positions within the same tab. In addition, users can right-click on a tab and press Split Tab, which opens a new pane in the existing tab.
Furthermore, users can give the title bar an acrylic style, users can bold or brighten text, and users can minimize the terminal to the system tray. Finally, the terminal opens without a profile by default, fonts now support OpenType features and axes, and there are additional tweaks and bug fixes. The Windows Terminal Preview update brought the stable version of Windows Terminal to version 1.10.
