Microsoft adds 16 Xbox and Xbox 360 games to streaming service xCloud
Microsoft is adding 16 backwards-compatible games to its Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming service. These are games that originally came out for the original Xbox and Xbox 360. The games will be available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.
The sixteen games are now available, Microsoft writes in a press release. Other backwards-compatible games will be added to the streaming service later, the company said. Games include various role-playing games such as Fallout: New Vegas, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and Fable II. Users can also play the original Banjo-Kazooie, Perfect Dark and Gears of Wars 2, 3 and Judgment.
Microsoft’s game streaming service is currently only available on Android devices, although the company is currently working on a Windows 10 app, along with 1080p streams. Because of this, the company has added touch controls to Jetpac Refuelled, Viva Piñata, and Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise, as it has done with several other games before. The service should be available for iOS and web browsers in the coming quarter, The Verge also writes.
The Xbox Cloud Gaming service was announced as Project xCloud in 2018 and was later introduced in preview. The streaming service has been part of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription since September. XCloud games run on Xbox consoles in Microsoft server farms. The images are then streamed to users’ devices.
