Microsoft acquires enterprise security firm RiskIQ
Microsoft has acquired the security company RiskIQ. This company mainly focuses on enterprise customers and how they can best secure their cloud network. According to Bloomberg sources, Microsoft is paying more than half a billion dollars for RiskIQ.
RiskIQ specializes in assessing the security of cloud networks of large companies, according to Microsoft. The security company investigates how secure a company’s connection is with cloud services such as those from Microsoft or AWS. In addition, the company looks at the network within a company itself and at security problems via possible suppliers.
Microsoft will offer RiskIQ’s Attack Surface and Threat Intelligence packages through its own Security package. Microsoft says it will continue to support RiskIQ’s PassiveTotal community. Within this community, security researchers share threat intelligence and this intelligence is analyzed with machine learning. Bloomberg says based on anonymous sources that Microsoft has paid more than 422 million euros for the American company.
