Micron Introduces Crucial P5 NVME SSDs With Tlc Nand And Dram Cache
Micron introduces a new series of SSDs under its Crucial brand name. The P5 series is equipped with tlc nand memory and has a controller with dram cache. There will be variants of 250GB, 500GB, 1TB and 2TB.
Micron does not report which controller the P5 SSDs have. According to the announcement, however, it is a controller with dram cache. The SSDs also have dynamic write acceleration and hardware encryption on board. The P5 series consists of PCI-E 3.0 SSDs in the m2-2280 format. According to the manufacturer, the sequential read and write speeds are more than 3GB/s with the versions from 500GB.
The P5 SSDs are positioned above the Crucial P2 series. That is a series of budget SSDs with qlc-nand that Micron recently released. The P5 SSDs are faster and have a longer lifespan. The manufacturer has not yet announced recommended prices for the new SSDs.
