Micron introduces its 9400 series enterprise SSDs. These drives are intended for use in data centers and feature a U.3 form factor and a PCIe 4.0 interface. According to Micron, the SSDs reach speeds of up to 7GB/s and come with a maximum of 30.72TB of storage space.

Micron comes with two different SSD models in the 9400 series. The 9400 Pro is primarily intended for workloads where a lot of data is read from the drive. The 9400 Max variants are intended for mixed use, which also involves a lot of writing. Micron supplies the two SSDs in variants with a maximum of 30.72TB for the 9400 Pro and 25.60TB for the 9400 Max. With this, Micron doubles the capacity compared to its 9300 SSDs, which came with a maximum of 15.36TB of storage space.

The two SSDs both use Micron’s 176-layer TLC nand. In addition, the drives have a 2.5″ U.3 format and a PCIe 4.0 interface. This means that both series achieve sequential read and write speeds of up to 7 GB/s. The random 4 kB read speeds are a maximum of 1 for both series. 6 million iops, depending on capacity. The 9400 Pro series achieves random 4KB write speeds of up to 300,000 iops, while the Max series reaches 600,000 iops. The previous 9300 series achieved random read and write speeds of up to 850,000 and 310,000 iops.

Microns makes the 9400 Pro and Max SSDs available immediately. The company does not disclose prices.
