‘Metroid Prime 4 is being developed by Bandai Namco Singapore’ – Update
Bandai Namco Studios Singapore is working on Metroid Prime 4. It was already known that the original Metroid Prime developer, Retro Studios, would not be working on the game. Multiple Eurogamer sources confirm that the Bandai Namco studio is behind the game.
Bandai Namco Studios Singapore has worked on Super Smash Bros in the past. for the 3DS and Wii U and to Pokkén Tournament for the Wii U and Switch. The studio is working on the game in collaboration with Nintendo. The project is headed by Nintendo game designer Kensuke Tanabe, who has worked on many Nintendo games.
That this studio would be behind the game has been rumored for some time due to multiple LinkedIn profiles and job openings that talked about an “unannounced fps game exclusively for the Nintendo Switch,” Eurogamer writes. Nintendo has yet to comment for the time being. The company says it will not respond to rumors or speculation.
Metroid Prime 4 was announced at the 2017 E3 game show, but nothing more than a logo was shown in a short video, only communicating that the game is in the works. It is unknown when the game will be released on the market. Given that no images of the game have been shown yet, it may be that the game is still in a very early stage of development and will take a while.
Update, Sunday: Bandai Namco tells Eurogamer that work on Metroid Prime 4 is also being done by Bandai Namco Japan. Later in development, Japan will have to take over from Singapore completely, after which the Singapore studio will move on to other Switch projects. The headquarters of Bandai Namco is located in Japan.
