Messaging service Slack reports malfunction causing messages not to load – update

Slack says it has a glitch that prevents channels, threads, and private messages from working. The cause of the malfunction is not clear. It doesn’t seem like everyone is affected by the outage.

The message service confirmed that there is a malfunction and says to investigate the problem. Slack indicated at 5:15 pm that there was a problem with threads, half an hour later it indicated that entire channels and private messages were also affected by the outage.

Slack is a messaging service mainly used by businesses. The outage started around 5 p.m. and is causing certain messages to fail to load, but some new messages to load. The outage affects both the web version and the apps.

Update, 6:55 p.m.: Slack says that the malfunction has now been resolved and does not provide further details about the malfunction. The company does say that the user may have to restart Slack to use the service again.
