Meizu Ubuntu Phone Details Coming Out
Details of a Meizu Ubuntu phone have surfaced online. It is a variant of the as yet unannounced MX6. Previously, the MX5 appeared last year in a version with Canonical’s mobile operating system.
The MX6 Ubuntu Edition would run on a MediaTek Helio X20 soc, a decacore with two Cortex A72 processor cores at 2.3GHz, four A53 cores at 2GHz and four A53 cores at 1.4GHz and a Mali T880MP4 GPU at 780MHz . The soc is assisted by a 3GB RAM. According to the information surfaced, the phone has a storage space of 32GB.
Meizu has been putting a Home button with a fingerprint scanner in its phones for some time now, and this can also be found on the Ubuntu edition of the MX6. The camera has a maximum resolution of 20.7 megapixels, while the front camera has a maximum resolution of eight megapixels. The screen has a diagonal of 5.5″ with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.
The product page, of which Android Headlines has put screenshots online, shows a price of 399.99 euros. The fact that the price is in euros makes it likely that the Chinese manufacturer will market the device in Europe.
Canonical has been working on its mobile operating system for several years now. Until now, devices have mainly been released with the OS that also appear with Android. That is probably also the case with the MX6. Meizu is expected to announce the MX6 in both variants next month.
