Meizu presents smartphones in 15 series with 16:9 screens

The Chinese manufacturer Meizu has presented three new smartphones. All three have conventional 16:9 screens and minimal bezels. The most expensive version has the Exynos soc from the Galaxy S8 on board.

The Meizu 15 Plus has a 5.96 “screen with 2560×1440 pixels. The device is 154x78mm in size, with which the bezels on the sides come out at 4mm. That is less than almost any other recently released smartphone. The 15 Plus has a Samsung produced oled screen.

The device has a dual camera on the back. The primary is a Sony IMX380, a 12-megapixel sensor with a size of 1/2.3″ and pixels of 1.55 microns. Meizu has added an f/1.8 lens, while lighting comes from a ring flash with six LEDs. The secondary sensor is a Sony IMX350, which is a 20-megapixel sensor with a size of 1/2.8″ and pixels of 1.0 microns in size. The secondary sensor is for ‘optical zoom’.

The Meizu 15 Plus has an under-display fingerprint scanner and facial unlocking. The device runs on Android with Meizu’s own Flyme OS skin on top. The processor is the Exynos 8895 from Samsung, which is also in the Galaxy S8 series and Note 8.

In addition, the manufacturer presented the Meizu 15, with a 5.46 “OLED screen. This is equipped with the same camera setup, but the processor is different: that is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660. The device is a lot smaller at 143×72 mm, but the bezels are approx. There is also a Meizu 15 Lite, with a 5.46” LCD and Snapdragon 626. The phones will be released soon in China, nothing is known about a release in Europe.
