The first more expensive smartphone with Ubuntu Touch, the Meizu MX4, is coming soon in Europe. That is what Ubuntu maker Canonical promises. The device is now available in China. It is the second Ubuntu phone to go on sale.

The Meizu MX4 is originally an Android phone, but the manufacturer has equipped this version with Canonical’s mobile operating system. The device is available in silver and gold options, OmgUbuntu writes. The device costs 1799 Chinese yuan, converted and including VAT, that would currently amount to around 306 euros.

The Ubuntu device has a 5.4 “screen with a resolution of 1920×1152 pixels. The Meizu smartphone runs on an octacore MediaTek MT6595 soc. When the device will be released in Europe is unknown, but according to Canonical it is “fast”. It would be the second Ubuntu smartphone to go on sale in Europe, after the BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition.
