Li Nan, vice president of the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Meizu, has responded to the rumors about the arrival of a Pro 5 mini with 4.7 “screen. According to the CEO, it is possible that the small device will appear in early 2016.

Li Nan made the statements about the arrival of the Meizu Pro 5 mini to AndroidHeadlines. He is thus responding to the rumors of an upcoming 4.7″ smartphone, a smaller variant of the Pro M5 that Meizu presented in September. That device has a 5.7″ AMOLED screen and uses the same soc as the Samsung. Galaxy S6. There are many rumors about the specifications of the small device and a complete list with details has been published in a German webshop. If the list is correct, the Pro 5 mini will get a 1080p AMOLED screen just like the large model.

However, the soc used is completely different. The small device would house a MediaTek Helio X20, a chip that has a total of ten cores. The soc was already announced in May, but products with the chip have not yet appeared.

According to the specification list, the soc is assisted by 3GB of ram and there is 32GB of storage space. The small device would run on Android 5.1, accommodate two SIM cards and have a fingerprint reader. It is striking that the specifications mention a battery with a capacity of 3050mAh, which is equal to the large Pro 5. Given the smaller size, a lower capacity would be plausible and the specification list may not be completely correct. Although the CEO of Meizu has hinted that the small device is probably on the way, he did not respond to the possible specifications.

Besides the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, there are almost no high-end Android smartphones with a relatively small screen on the market. If Meizu actually puts the aforementioned specifications in the Pro 5 mini, it seems to be an interesting alternative to Sony’s device.
