Meerka makes test version Android app public
Meerkat, which allows users to stream live video via Twitter, has released its first public Android application. It is currently a test version. The company announced this on Friday.
Meerkat allows users to stream videos via Twitter. As soon as they stop filming, the stream will stop automatically. It is then no longer possible to view the fragments. Those who want to try the Android app can do so via the Play Store.
Meerkat’s iOS app suddenly became popular in March when it was a talking point at the SXSW conference, which took place in the United States. Many speakers mentioned the app, while visitors started streaming presentations with Meerkat.
In response to Meerkat, Twitter came up with Periscope. Twitter took over the company behind that app at the beginning of this year. Periscope does much the same as Meerkat and is only for iOS for now. You can watch broadcasted videos with Periscope.
