Medion has started the sale of the Erazer X1000, a headset for the Mixed Reality platform of Windows 10. The glasses contain an LCD with a resolution of 2880×1440 pixels and Medion supplies it including two controllers for 449 euros.

Medion’s Erazer X1000 is very similar to parent company Lenovo’s Explorer headset, and the specs are similar too. The glasses contain a 2.89″ LCD with a resolution of 1440×1440 pixels per eye and a field of view of 105 degrees. On the front are two cameras for inside-out tracking.

Medion supplies the glasses with two wireless Erazer X1001 controllers, which look identical to Microsoft’s reference design. The weight of the headset is 420 grams and that includes cable. Medion recommends using the Mixed Reality headset in combination with a system with at least a Core i5-7200U with Intel HD Graphics 620. The recommendation in terms of system requirements is to use at least a Core i5-4590 quadcore in combination with an Nvidia GTX 950, 965M or 1050, or an AMD RX 460.

Microsoft previously announced that virtual reality images are displayed at 60fps in combination with the minimum system requirements and at 90fps with the recommended system properties. In addition to Medion and Lenovo, Acer, Asus, HP and Samsung have announced Mixed Reality glasses. Samsung’s will not be released in Europe.

Medion charges 449 euros for the Erazer X1000 and for that price the buyer gets the two wireless controllers. For now, the glasses are only on the German page of the company. It is unknown whether and when a release in the Benelux will follow.
