Medion introduces new tablets and hybrid laptop
Medion has added three new devices to its lineup: its first Windows 8.1 Update tablet, a laptop with detachable touchscreen that can serve as a tablet, and the Lifetab S7321, which is optimized for use by children.
The announcement comes ahead of IFA, the annual consumer electronics trade show in Berlin. The Akoya E1233T tablet runs the latest version of Windows 8.1 and includes a 10.1″ screen with IPS panel and resolution of 1920×1200 pixels. The processor is Intel’s BayTrail based Atom Z3735F and there is 2GB of memory, while Medion with up to 64GB of equipment.Present are micro-usb, micro-hdmi, a micro-SD memory card reader and support for WiFi-n and bluetooth 4.0. The tablet is 10.1 mm thick and weighs 560 grams. The Akoya E1233T will appear in the fourth quarter of 2014 on the shelves and will cost about 299 euros.
The Akoya P2213T is a hybrid laptop and consists of a keyboard part and a tablet. The screen diagonal measures 11.6 inches and the resolution of the IPS panel is 1920×1080 pixels. This Windows 8.1 system has a Pentium N3540 quad-core, which runs at 2.66 GHz. There is a maximum of 8GB of RAM and the keyboard part can contain 1TB of HDD storage, while a maximum of 128GB of flash storage can be added in the tablet. It is unknown exactly in which storage configurations Medion will release the model.
Both the tablet and the keyboard part contain a battery for a maximum battery time of 10 hours and Medion supplies a stylus as standard. The tablet contains micro USB, micro HDMI and a micro SD memory card reader. The keyboard part adds two more USB 2.0 ports. Akoya P2213T will arrive at the end of 2014 with a starting price of 399 euros.
Finally, Medion adds a tablet for children to its range. This LifeTab S7321 ‘JuniorTab’ has a simplified interface for Android 4.4.2, optionally includes a protective colored bezel and runs a password protected adult environment. It is a 7 “tablet with Cortex A9 quadcore, which Medion will sell at the end of this year for 119 euros.
