Marktplaats will introduce user rating system at the end of next month
Marktplaats is testing a system that allows buyers and sellers to rate each other. In the profile of users, a view with stars indicates how they are rated on average. The experiences in all product groups will be available at the end of next month.
According to the spokesperson for Marktplaats, the test started a few weeks ago with two product groups, ‘Home and Furnishings’ and ‘Music and Instruments’. According to him, the reactions are positive: “If this second part of the test also goes well, we expect to make these experiences available in all product groups by the end of next month.”
The purpose of the star system is to make trading on the platform more reliable. Users are given the opportunity to indicate their experiences with the other party if the purchase has been successfully concluded. Through a rating system in Messages, they can rate the course of the trade by rating it from one to five stars.
In addition, they can select positive points and indicate possible points for improvement. Assessment is not mandatory, but it is desirable according to Marktplaats ‘so that the behavior of the users becomes clear to others’. It is not possible to change the experiences afterwards.
The average number of stars of the reviews will be added to the profile of the users. Buyers and sellers will not see each other’s experience until the other party has shared it and the experience of both parties is published at the same time. If only one party shares its experience, it will automatically appear on the profile on the site and the apps after fourteen days.
