Football game Mario Strikers: Battle League is being developed by Next Level Games, the studio behind the original Mario Smash Football game for the GameCube and Mario Strikers Charged Football for the Wii. Battle League will be released for Nintendo Switch on June 10.

That Next Level Games is working on the next Mario Strikers game has been confirmed by the Australian Classification Board. The Canadian developer’s name can be seen on that authority’s website, Nintendo Everything noted. The website states that it will be rated “PG” because the game contains mild violence.

Next Level Games was already working on Mario Smash Football for the GameCube. That game was released in November 2005. The studio also released Mario Strikers Charged Football for the Nintendo Wii two years later. Mario Strikers: Battle League was announced during a Nintendo Direct presentation earlier this month and will be released on June 10. This makes it the first game in that series in nearly fifteen years.

Next Level Games has also worked on several other Nintendo games. The studio collaborated on Luigi’s Mansion 3 for the Switch, Punch-Out for the Wii and Metroid Prime: Federation Force for the 3DS. Since the beginning of last year, the studio has been a first party developer for Nintendo; in January 2021, the Japanese gaming giant acquired Next Level Games.
