Several manufacturers have released their first motherboards with A620 chipset. This chipset is mainly intended for cheaper motherboards and lacks support for PCIe 5.0, among other things.

ASRockASUS, Gigabyte and MSI all three introduced their first AMD A620 motherboards on Friday. The manufacturers only showed micro-ATX motherboards with that chipset. The boards have PCIe 4.0 support for a video card and SSDs, but do not offer PCIe 5.0. The motherboards have an AM5 socket for AMD’s Ryzen 7000 processors and have two to four DIMM slots for DDR5 memory, depending on the model.

ASUS comes with three A620 motherboards and is the only manufacturer to share euro prices for its motherboards, it says in a press release published by VideoCardz. The cheapest model, the Prime A620M-A-CSM, will cost 139 euros. The TUF Gaming A620M-Plus costs 149 euros and a WiFi variant of the same motherboard costs 20 euros extra. ASRock and Gigabyte are introducing four and two models respectively, but do not share suggested retail prices. MSI introduces a single motherboard, also without mentioning a euro price.

AMD itself has not yet announced anything about its A620 chipset, which is not yet listed at the time of writing on the company’s website. There have been some before rumors about the chipset around. They stated, among other things, that the A620 would not support PCIe 5.0, which now appears to be correct. The same rumor states that USB Gen 3.2 Gen2x2 support is missing and that the link between the CPU and chipset is limited to eight PCIe 3.0 lanes, while the connection with the B650 chipset runs over eight PCIe 4.0 lanes. The ability to overclock CPUs would also be missing, just like with the previous A520 series and previous entry-level chipsets from AMD. However, those details have not been officially confirmed by AMD.
