Manufacturers Announce GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti Video Cards
Several manufacturers have announced their versions of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti. MSI and EVGA come with no less than ten copies, Gigabyte makes eight versions. Zotac presents a modest number of three variants.
The difference in the many versions of MSI, Gigabyte and EVGA is in the used coolers and the number of fans. Despite the fact that Nvidia’s reference design does not have a six-pin power plug, the various manufacturers do release many versions that have such a plug. That should make it possible to overclock the video cards further than when no extra power is available. Despite the fact that the GTX 1050 video cards consume less than 75 watts according to Nvidia, the manufacturers also present many models with large cooling blocks and double fans.
Gigabyte only omits the six-pin plug on the GTX 1050 D5 and the Ti version of the D5 model. These video cards are equipped with a single 90mm fan. In total there are four models that will be equipped with a Gigabyte Windforce 2x cooler with two fans. Those are both the Windforce OC and G1 Gaming versions of the GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti. The fastest version of Gigabyte is the 1050 Ti G1 Gaming, with base clock of 1392Mhz and boost to 1506MHz in oc mode.
EVGA comes with five variations of the GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti. The models with the addition FTW, FTW TD and SSC after the name are equipped with a cooler with two fans. EVGA has opted for a single fan for the SC version and the models that have no further additions besides the GTX designation. Most models lack the six-pin connector, only the FTW and FTW TD have it. The GTX 1050 Ti FTW from EVGA has a base clock of 1379MHz and boost clock to 1493MHz.
MSI also makes a total of ten variants. There will be Gaming and Gaming X versions of both the 1050 Ti and the 1050, which are equipped with the manufacturer’s TwinFrozer IV cooler. The fastest 1050 Ti model has a base clock of 1379MHz and boost to 1493MHz. Furthermore, MSI comes with lower clocked models with a simpler cooler that is equipped with one or two fans.
Zotac presents modest cards in the GTX 1050 series; two versions of the 1050 Ti appear; there is a choice of a model with one fan or a variant with a cooler with a double fan. The model with the largest cooler runs at a base clock of 1392MHz with boost to 1506MHz. Zotac only makes a variant with a single fan of the GTX 1050.
Nvidia presented the GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti on Tuesday, which are based on the Pascal architecture and equipped with a new GPU codenamed GP107. The gpu has 768 cores, which are all used by the 1050 Ti, while a sm unit with 128 cores is disabled with the regular 1050. The GTX 1050 Ti is equipped with 4GB gddr5 memory, while the regular 1050 has to make do with 2GB. Both cards have a 128-bit wide memory bus. According to Nvidia, the GTX 1050 should be sold for 125 euros and the Ti cards will cost 155 euros. The video cards will be on sale from October 25.
