Manufacturer shows design for laptop with OLED screen with sloping edges
The Taiwanese laptop manufacturer Compal shows a design for a laptop with an OLED screen with rounded edges on the side. The edges at the top and bottom are also very small. It is not yet known whether the laptop will go into production.
Compal calls the design ZeroEdge and images can be seen on the iF World Design website. It is a 14 “laptop with an OLED screen and a claimed screen-to-body ratio of 99 percent. The screen is tapered on the sides, as is also common with some smartphones. According to Compal, the sloping edges of the screen can also be used for touch menus.
Specifications of the laptop are unknown. The iF website states that this is a product that will be released in 2021, but also that the development time is up to twelve months. It would be a laptop aimed at consumers.
Whether the laptop will actually come out remains to be seen. Last year, the iF World Design website also featured designs by Compal. No laptops with such designs have appeared so far.
Compal Electronics is a Taiwanese manufacturer that makes laptops for third parties and does not release them under its own name. The company produces, among other things, the Alienware laptops for Dell and also models for HP and Toshiba.
