Fumito Ueda, the creator of Ico, Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian, is working on a new project with his studio genDesign. It will be a completely new ip, according to Ueda. It will be a game that will have the same scale as TLG.

The project is still in the prototyping phase and does not yet have an official name. In addition, it is not yet known for which platforms the game will be developed. In an interview with Famitsu, which was translated by Gematsu Ueda says that the project is supported by Kowloon Nights . That is an international fund set up for small developers.

Last January Ueda told Eurogamer that there were plans for a new game. The website asked a question about the image of the new year greeting from genDesign. It turned out to be related to a new project, but Ueda could not tell much about it at the time.

Fumito Ueda was the director and chief designer for Ico, Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian. In December 2011 he left Sony, but he was still contractually obliged to finish his work for The Last Guardian. After the release of that game was postponed several times, the game ended on December 6, 2016. In February of this year a remake of Shadow of the Colossus came out for the PlayStation 4. The original was released in 2006 for the PlayStation 2.
