Major Minecraft update adds goats and stalactite caves
Developer Mojang Studios has released a major update for Minecraft. In update 1.17, the game will get goats and stalactite caves, among other things. It is the first major update since the Nether update last June.
The 1.17 update has been renamed Caves and Cliffs part one and the first of two major updates players can expect this year. 1.18 is expected to be released later this year. Update 1.17 is available immediately for both the Bedrock and Java versions of Minecraft.
In 1.17, four new mobs have been added to the game, of which the goat stands out the most. This animal can be found in the mountains and will ram all mobs that stay in its vicinity for too long. The glowing squid from the mobile game Minecraft Earth has also been added. It is the first mob from the mobile game to make the transition to the original Minecraft.
Caves and Cliffs also adds some new biomes that can appear in players’ worlds. A cave called Deep Dark, in which the new monster can spawn the Warden. In addition, there are stalactite caves, with stalactites and stalagmites. In caves, players can also find copper in 1.17. Binoculars can be made with this new metal. It is not yet known when the second part of Cliffs and Caves will be released. The update was supposed to come out as a major expansion, but has been split due to development delays, according to Windows Central. At the beginning of this year, publisher Microsoft also announced that it would stop the AR game Minecraft Earth. According to the company, the game was not played enough because everyone stayed at home due to the corona pandemic.
