Mafia III gets mobile version for iOS and Android
Together with Mafia III, publisher 2K Games also releases Mafia III: Rivals for iOS and Android. Rivals becomes a ‘battle rpg’ in which the player can recruit 40 allies to build a crime syndicate. The mobile game is also set in new Bordeaux.
According to 2K Games, Mafia III: Rivals allows the player to climb “an entirely different path to the top of a crime syndicate” than in Mafia III. The player also sees New Bordeaux, the city in which both games take place, ‘from a completely different perspective’. On the way to the top of the underworld, the player can acquire real estate, collect weapons and vehicles, and recruit a ‘gang’ of 40 allies drawn from the Mafia universe. With those resources, the player can take out rival underworld factions in a game described by 2K Games as a ‘battle rpg’.
2K Games also states that there is a multiplayer aspect to the game. The publisher indicates that players with other players can form a crew that competes for power in the city. 2K Games does not clarify how that side of the game is worked out. Mafia III: Rivals will be released on October 7 for iOS and Android. Mafia III will also be released simultaneously on October 7 for Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
