Mafia II and III may get remasters for PC and consoles
Remasters of Mafia II and III may be on the way. The titles Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition have appeared on the site of the Taiwanese approval authority. A few days ago, Mafia II: Definitive Edition also appeared at a Korean inspection body.
The Gematsu website discovered the display of Mafia II: Definitive Edition at the Korean Game Board; this review is for the Nintendo Switch. According to the game website, both titles are now also on the site of the Taiwanese inspection body; these approvals are for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The approval of the Mafia II version for the Switch may be a port of the original, but the approvals from the Taiwanese authority could indicate remasters, if not certainly. To date, 2K Games has not made any official announcements.
Mafia III is the final game in the series and was released in October 2016 for PC, PS4, Xbox One and in May 2017 for macOS. In this game from developer Hangar 13, the player takes on the role of a Vietnam War veteran who takes revenge for the murder of his “relatives” in a New Orleans-like city in 1968. Hangar 13 is also working on a new, unannounced game. Mafia II was released in 2010 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
