Mad Catz announces pricey mobile controller
Mad Catz has released a modular wireless controller aimed at the mobile market. The Lynx9 can be paired with a smartphone in various ways. A keyboard is also included with the controller. However, the Lynx9 is not cheap.
On the Lynx9, a mobile phone can be secured at the top with a clamping system, but it is also possible to split the controller and attach it, for example, to the sides of a larger tablet. In addition, it is possible to connect the Lynx9 to a television with a so-called PlayBig cable, whereby the images are visible on both screens. Furthermore, the handles can be folded out.
The user can also choose to attach a compact QWERTY keyboard to the metal-framed controller. This is included as standard, as well as a mobile app to configure the controller for different games. Foldable for easy portability, the controller communicates with a mobile device via bluetooth, while the housing also houses a microphone for voice control.
Mad Catz states that the controller is compatible with virtually all Android hardware running version 4.0 or higher. The Lynx9 can also be used with Windows. However, it is not cheap: 300 dollars, or about 250 euros. The modular controller will be on the market from March.
