macOS Mojave is out: you should know this!

Apple has just released macOS Mojave 10.14. It is one of the biggest updates of the operating system of the last years, with a lot of new features. You should know this from the macOS Mojave release!

macOS Mojave has some remarkable new features. The dark mode is nice when you’re sitting in the dark behind your Mac and you also make it easier to focus. On the desktop you will find Stacks in which your documents are arranged in a logical way. There are new built-in apps and you can edit files without opening them.

Support macOS Mojave

There are a lot of this year Macs that you can no longer update to Mojave, and thus keep macOS High Sierra. The following Macs are suitable for macOS Mojave:

  • MacBook (early 2015 or newer)
  • MacBook Air (mid 2012 or newer)
  • MacBook Pro (mid 2012 or newer)
  • Mac mini (end 2012 or newer)
  • iMac (end 2012 or newer)
  • iMac Pro (2017)
  • Mac Pro (late 2013, plus models from mid 2010 and mid 2012 with a graphics card that supports Metal)

you do not know what kind of Mac you have? Or in which year you bought it? You look it up like this:

  1. Click on the apple in the top left corner and choose ‘About this Mac’
  2. On the first tab ‘Overview’ you can see which Mac you have.

Download macOS Mojave

The free update can be found on the ‘Featured’ tab of the Mac App Store. You can also click in the menu bar at the top left of the apple and then choose ‘App Store … update’. Have you enabled automatic downloads (via System Preferences> App Store)? Then the download starts automatically, and when the download is complete you will be notified that you can install Mojave. According to Apple, you have sufficient 20 GB of storage space. Via ‘Apple> About this Mac’ you can see how your storage is, via ‘Management’ you can quickly get rid of it.
