An American retailer will start selling a luxury smartwatch from HP next week. The technology giant collaborated with an American fashion designer for the development of the so-called MB Chronowing.

HP had been working on the watch with designer Michael Bastian for some time. Compared to other recent smartwatches, the MB Chronowing looks relatively luxurious, but also somewhat conservative. According to Bastian, the design would resemble the interior of luxury cars.

Bastian told The Wall Street Journal that he mainly wanted the watch to look luxurious, where it would be less about the technical gadgets. There is no touchscreen and no microphone. The watch also does not have a heart rate monitor. The MB Chronowing does have an LCD screen and the smartwatch could last up to seven days with one battery charge.

The round casing of the watch is 44 millimeters wide and is made of stainless steel. The interchangeable straps come in three flavors: a black rubber strap, a brown leather strap and an olive green nylon strap.

The smartwatch is compatible from iOS 7 and Android 4.3. Calendar, text messages, mail and social media can be consulted with the device. In addition, there are options for viewing the time, weather, stocks and sports updates. Finally, the smartwatch can manage a music collection remotely.

HP’s MB Chronowing will be available November 7 at US retailer Gilt and will be available exclusively there. The cheapest variant costs 349 dollars, converted about 280 euros. The most expensive contains sapphire glass and a crocodile leather strap and costs no less than $ 649, or about 520 euros.
