Logos in Twitch streams will be allowed to take up 3 percent of the image starting July 1. This is evident from the new rules that the Amazon platform has put online regarding branded content. Burned-in ads in streams are no longer allowed.

The new rules must ensure that streamers are transparent about their partnerships with sponsors. Streamers who ignore the rules will initially receive an email warning and may subsequently have their account suspended.

Streamers are allowed to wear shirts that happen to be from a brand, show sponsored objects in the background and display links with discount promotions, for example. Showing logos must be limited to 3 percent of the image, something that can be problematic in some e-sports, for example.

The new rules have provoked strong reactions among streamers, after which Twitch responded by saying it will rewrite the rules. It appears that there will be no substantive changes to the rules, which will come into effect next month.
