Acquisition talks between Logitech and Plantronics have ended, according to both companies, who are coming with an announcement following rumors of such an acquisition. The companies did not provide further details about the talks.

Normally, Plantronics doesn’t respond to rumors, but now it says it does, as Logitech was obliged under Swiss rules to explain the status of the negotiations, after last weekend’s rumors. Like Plantronics, Logitech only reports that the calls have ended. According to Reuters, Logitech was willing to pay $2 billion for Plantronics.

According to Plantronics, the company is on track to meet the goals of its long-term strategy, and the good results from its past quarter are a demonstration of that. Plantronics is an American maker of audio communication equipment, such as headsets, a market in which Logitech is also active. Earlier this year, Swiss Logitech acquired Blue Microphones for $117 million.
