Logitech is going to re-release the MX518 mouse. The gaming mouse has been very popular in the past, according to Logitech, and the company says it will therefore release a new version. The mouse retains its original shape, but will also receive a new sensor.

Logitech reports that the MX518 will get the Hero 16K sensor. This is also included in the G502 Hero and has a resolution of 16,000 dpi. The MX518 when it came out around 2005 had a sensor with a resolution that didn’t go beyond 1800dpi. PcGamer reports that Logitech reported in 2014 that the original MX518 has sold 16.4 million units.

In addition, the mouse gets a 32-bit arm processor, which should lead to a response time of 1ms. The updated mouse has onboard memory, allowing users to save profiles and preferences without having to install software on the computer.

The shape is unchanged and the mouse is also still wired, although new materials have been used and the MX518 gets a ‘nightfall’ finish. The MX518 has eight programmable buttons and the dpi setting can be adjusted at the touch of a button; by default this is set to 400, 800, 1600, 3200 and 6400.

The manufacturer does not yet report when the updated MX518 will be released. Currently, interested parties can only place a pre-order for $ 60.
