Logitech makes Harmony API for home automation control

Spread the love

Logitech has released a Harmony API that allows developers to connect different home automation applications and media devices. The API allows developers to build in voice, gesture, and motion controls.

The api also makes ‘macros’ possible, with which users can perform various actions in one go with a gesture or voice command, such as turning on a movie and dimming the lights at the same time. The API works with If This Then That and the Myo bracelet, but also with Sonos devices and the smart Google thermostat Nest.

Only developers can access the api and it is not publicly available. By making the API available, Logitech wants to link home automation to equipment such as set-top boxes, TVs and speaker systems. Logitech makes its own Harmony line of remotes.
