Logitech introduces stylus for drawing in virtual reality
Logitech has developed a VR stylus, which makes it possible to sketch designs in virtual reality, in collaboration with VR glasses. The VR Ink Pilot Edition can therefore be used to draw ‘in the air’, but also works on 2D surfaces.
The VR Ink was announced by Logitech shortly before the Augmented World Expo. This fair is currently being held in Santa Clara in the US state of California and will last until Friday. Logitech also wants to demonstrate its new VR stylus there. According to Logitech, the VR Ink lasts 2.5 hours on the battery, and it can be recharged via USB. In addition, there are a number of function buttons on the stylus and there is a touch strip for additional control options.
To be able to draw in vr, suitable VR glasses are required, and Logitech is working together with HTC, who have made the Vive suitable for the stylus. This way, users can see the design with the glasses that they are sketching with the VR Ink. Incidentally, the stylus also works on other VR headsets that use Steam VR tracking. In addition, Logitech is calling on other companies to become partners, probably to make VR Ink compatible with more products.
It is not yet clear when the VR Ink Pilot Edition should be released, as the manufacturer only provides a select number of partners with the stylus for the time being. Logitech will probably release the stylus first in the United States.
