Logitech Introduces Prodigy Peripherals Aimed at Gamers
Logitech presented the G Prodigy line at IFA; a new series of products aimed at gamers. It concerns two mice, one of which is wireless, a keyboard with RGB backlighting and a headset.
Both mice are sold under the name G403 Prodigy Gaming Mouse, but the wireless version is 19.9 grams heavier than the wired version at 107.2 grams. The G403 with tail can be weighed down with the included weight of 10 grams. They are otherwise identical in appearance. Internally, the mice differ because the wireless has yet to transfer a signal. The mouse does this via the 2.4 GHz frequency. The resolution of the PMW3366 sensor can be set between 200 and 12,000dpi and the USB reporting rate is 1000Hz. The mice are also equipped with six buttons and RGB lighting.
The G213 Prodigy Gaming keyboard is ‘spill-resistant’, meaning it can withstand at least 60ml of liquid spills. Furthermore, the keyboard has backlit keys, requiring its own software to set the lighting patterns. Above the function keys is another row of multimedia keys. The keyboard is connected via USB 2.0 and does not have a USB hub.
The G231 Prodigy Gaming headset works with PCs as well as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The headset is equipped with a retractable microphone that according to Logitech is ‘unidirectional’, so that just folding it away should ensure that the user is no longer audible. In other words: the microphone picks up very focused sound. The wired headphones are connected with an analog 3.5 mm connection, weigh 255 grams without a cable and have no built-in lighting.
The G403 mice will be available from the end of September, the wired version costs 69.99 euros, the variant without wire has a suggested retail price of 119.99 euros. For the keyboard, which will be available in mid-October, you have to pay 79.99 euros. The headset costs 59.99 and will be available in early September.
