Logitech Introduces MX Master 2S and MX Anywhere 2S with 4000dpi Sensor
Logitech introduces two wireless mice that feature a new Darkfield laser sensor with an accuracy of 4000dpi. The MX Master 2S and MX Anywhere 2S can be connected to three devices. Switching devices is automatic with the new Flow software.
The design of the Logitech MX Master 2S is the same as that of its predecessor, the MX Master, which the manufacturer has had in its range since 2015. Logitech says it has improved the battery life of the mouse; the new model would last up to seventy days on a charge. With the previous model, that was 40 days. When the mouse is empty, it can be hung on a micro USB cable to recharge. Three minutes of charging should be enough for eight hours of use.
According to Logitech, the laser sensor also works on glass. The new sensor is more accurate than the previous MX Master mice, which have a sensor with a maximum accuracy of 1000dpi. Like the first MX Master mouse, the new model has a customizable scroll wheel. A button below the wheel allows users to choose between a resistance mode and a mode without for fast scrolling. The resistance mode has speed-adaptive scroll, where the resistance is turned off when the wheel is turned hard. The MX Master 2S mouse also has a thumbwheel for horizontal scrolling and the surface on which the thumb rests is also a button. It can be used to simulate the gestures of Windows 10.
Together with the MX Master 2S, the MX Anywhere 2S appears, a smaller model that is intended for use in combination with laptops. This version has the same Darkfield laser sensor as the large model and the scroll wheel also offers the same functionality. Both mice connect wirelessly via bluetooth or with the included dongle with Logitech Unifying technology, which runs at 2.4GHz. The mice can be used with up to three different devices.
Switching between computers is possible with a switch placed on the bottom of the mice, but if the supplied Flow software is installed on the systems, this is not necessary. When using it, the mouse control automatically switches to another system when the cursor is moved to the edge of the image. The Flow software, available for Windows and macOS, also allows copying text or files from one computer to another. The software also works with the M720 mouse introduced last year. Flow is not compatible with older models, such as the first MX Master.
Logitech markets the MX Master 2S in three colors: dark gray, white and blue. The suggested retail price is 109 euros. The MX Anywhere 2S is available in black, blue and gray and costs 90 euros.
In addition to the two new MX mice, Logitech comes with the M590 Multi-Device Silent mouse. This is a model that makes virtually no noise when clicking and can be connected to a maximum of two devices at the same time. The wireless M590 is powered by an AA battery, weighs one hundred grams, has seven buttons and is equipped with a laser sensor with an accuracy of 1000dpi. The M590 will have a suggested retail price of 50 euros.
