Logitech introduces G923 racing wheel with better force feedback for 400 euros
Logitech G will be releasing a new set of racing wheel and pedals in August. The G923 works with PCs, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and features Trueforce, a new system for accurate force feedback. That works with an SDK for games.
The G923 racing wheel’s Trueforce system enables more realistic force feedback through integration with game physics and audio engines, according to Logitech. The vibration motors in the steering wheel constantly respond to input from the game, for example the speed of the motor. Even small changes in the surface of the road surface are clearly noticeable with Trueforce, says Logitech.
To use Trueforce, game developers must implement an SDK from Logitech. This has already been done with GRID, Assetto Corsa Competizione and Gran Turismo Sport. From September, the Trueforce integration will also come to iRacing, Dirt Rally 2.0 and F1 2020. For games that don’t have the SDK, the force feedback of the new wheel is similar to the force feedback of older wheels.
Logitech’s G923 is otherwise largely the same as the G29 and G290. There are two versions of the new handlebar; with button layout for PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Both steering wheels also work in combination with PCs. The wheel will also be compatible with next-gen consoles from Microsoft and Sony, Logitech says.
The mechanical parts of the G923 are very similar to the predecessors, but the brake pedal now features a progressive spring, which should give a more responsive feel. The steering wheel also has LED lights that act as a tachometer.
Logitech will release the G923 set in August through one retailer and its own site for 400 euros. The set will be available at more stores from October. The G29 and G920 remain in the range as cheaper alternatives.
