Logitech buys American Blue Microphones for $117 million
Accessory maker Logitech has announced it is acquiring Blue Microphones for $117 million. The American company is known for its Yeti microphones. It also makes other audio accessories, including headphones.
Logitech CEO Bracken Darrell said the acquisition represents a “new way to grow.” In addition, Blue’s offer should complement the current offer of the Swiss company. John Maier, who heads Blue Microphones, says his company will continue to make products for today’s target audience. It includes musicians, gamers and streamers among others. In an email to TechCrunch, the companies said the Blue brand will continue to exist and employees will transfer to Logitech.
Logitech announced that it expects the acquisition to close in August as it releases its quarterly results. It also states that the acquisition is worth approximately $117 million. That equates to almost 100 million euros.
Blue Microphones was founded in 1995 and is headquartered in the US state of California. The name is an abbreviation and stands for ‘Baltic Latvian Universal Electronics’. It includes the Yeti and Snowball microphones among its products.
