Logitech and Tencent release handheld console for cloud gaming this year
Logitech and the Chinese Tencent are going to work together to make their own handheld console. The gaming hardware is specifically intended for cloud gaming, but details or specifications are not yet known.
Logitech G, the gaming arm of the company, writes on Twitter that it will collaborate on hardware with the Chinese Tencent Gaming. Tencent is known for the battle royale game PUBG. The company has opened a mailing list for those interested, but it does not provide any information about the console for now.
In a press release neither Logitech G nor Tencent mention any technical specifications of the handheld. The companies do say that it is about ‘a cloud gaming handheld’ that should come to the market later this year. The handheld is “a combination of Logitech’s expertise in hardware and Tencent’s expertise in software services.” The handheld will support several cloud gaming services. The companies cite Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia’s GeForce Now as examples. The press release implies that no games can be installed locally on the device, but that they will only be streamed via the cloud.
