LittleBigPlanet and Dreams maker Media Molecule lays off some of its staff
Media Molecule, the creator of the LittleBigPlanet franchise and Dreams, has had to lay off some of its staff. The PlayStation Studios subsidiary does not say how many employees are involved. It is reported that between 15 to 20 percent of the staff will be laid off.
The news was initially brought by GLHF based on those involved, with the sources saying that twenty employees would be fired. According to LinkedIn the company has just over a hundred employees, although the medium mentions a total of 135 employees. Shortly after the publication of the message, Media recognized Molecule in a tweet that staff would be laid off. According to the British studio, the company has made ‘strategic changes’ to focus on a new project. It is not known which game the PlayStation Studios developer is working on.
Media Molecule was founded in 2006 and was acquired by Sony Computer Entertainment in 2010. The company created the LittleBigPlanet franchise and released the game Dreams in 2020. Earlier this year it was announced that Media Molecule would no longer support the game from September.
