Listing at German web store shows that Huawei Mate 40 Pro will be released on November 9
A listing at the German version of Amazon online store showed that the Huawei Mate 40 Pro will be released on November 9 for 1199 euros. Huawei has not yet announced the smartphone, but it will probably do so soon.
Telecom journalist Roland Quandt found the page at Amazon, which has since left the Amazon site but can still be found on an archive site. It says that the smartphone will be released in just under three weeks and should cost 1199 euros. Last year’s Mate 30 Pro received a suggested retail price of 1099 euros.
The page shows that the Mate 40 Pro can charge wirelessly at 50W, while wired charging is at 65W. The listing confirms some specs that surfaced earlier, such as the 4400mAh battery. On the back is a 50-megapixel camera with optical stabilization, a 20-megapixel camera with ultra-wide angle lens and a 12-megapixel camera with 5x optical ‘zoom’. The primary camera can record 8k video and Huawei is said to adopt a new autofocus system. On the front is a 13-megapixel front camera, with a sensor to scan faces in 3d next to it.
The device will reportedly get a Kirin 9000-soc. It is made by TSMC at 5nm and has four Cortex-A77 cores and four A55 cores. One of the A77 cores runs at 3.13GHz, the other three at 2.54GHz. The soc has an integrated 5g modem with support for frequencies below 6GHz. The modem does not have mmWave support.
TSMC stopped deliveries to Huawei in September due to the US trade ban. The chips for the Mate 40 phones were still produced and delivered before that time. Also because of that trade ban, the Huawei Mate 40 Pro does not have Google apps or services on board. The device runs on software based on Android 10.
Huawei announces the Mate 40 Pro on Thursday. The device does not have Google services on board, but runs Android with Huawei’s own Emui edition.
