Linux Foundation brings javascript projects to JS Foundation

The Linux Foundation started the JS Foundation. Javascript projects such as Appium, Mocha and webpack should fall under this umbrella. The existing JQuery Foundation will be merged into the new Linux Foundation foundation.

The aim of the JS Foundation is to help developers create javascript programs, among other things by stimulating collaboration and knowledge transfer. Projects that will initially fall under the organization include Appium, Interledger.js, JerryScript, Mocha, Moment.js, Node-Red, and webpack.

Organizations involved in the creation of the JS Foundation include IBM, Samsung, Sauce Labs, Sense Tecnic Systems, SitePen, StackPath, and WebsiteSetup. IBM hands over the Node.js programming environment for internet-of-things applications Node-Red to the foundation, Samsung was the founder of the lightweight javascript engine JerryScript.
