Linksys Releases WRT32X Gaming Router in October
Linksys has announced that it will release its WRT32X dual band router in October as part of the Gamescom trade show. The router is aimed at gamers and according to the manufacturer must be able to give priority to certain network traffic.
Linksys reports that the prioritization works on the basis of a proprietary system called the Killer Priorization Engine. The manufacturer claims that this gives network traffic from, for example, gaming PCs with Killer network equipment priority on the network over other traffic. Users can adjust the priority themselves.
The router, which supports both 2.4 and 5GHz, runs on a 1.8GHz dual-core ARM processor. It is suitable for running the open source OpenWrt software. The mu-mimo device has four antennas and has 5 Ethernet ports in addition to a USB 3.0 and a combined ESATA/USB connection. There is also support for dfs.
Linksys had announced the router at CES and then said the device would be released in April. That will now be October, where it is possible to place orders in September. Instead of the originally announced price of 300 euros, the suggested retail price of the router amounts to 329.99 euros.
