LinkedIn lets Premium subscribers create profiles using GPT-4
LinkedIn is testing a generative AI tool for Premium subscribers that will allow the platform to provide text suggestions for the user’s profile. LinkedIn uses OpenAI’s GPT-4 model for this. In addition, the platform introduces a tool for writing vacancy texts.
The profile tool recognizes and uses the ‘key skills and experiences’ to write texts for the About and Headline sections, says LinkedIn chief product officer Tomer Cohen. The tool would take into account the writing style of the user when writing the texts. The tool also advises the user to read the text carefully and to adjust it before publication.
This feature is currently only available to Premium subscribers, a subscription that costs at least 29 euros per month. This is a phased release, with all Premium subscribers getting the “over the coming months” feature.
LinkedIn still uses OpenAI’s GPT model for job writing, but the 3.5 version, reports TechCrunch. With this tool, the user has to write down a job title, company name ‘and other basic information’, after which the tool writes a vacancy text.
Cohen says he wants to come up with more generative AI tools in the future. In addition, the platform is introducing 100 AI courses that are free until June 15, including some courses specifically on generative AI.
OpenAI announced GPT-4 on Tuesday, an improved version of the language model that should better handle more complex tasks and allow images to serve as input. Duolingo, among others, has now announced a function based on the GPT-4 model. LinkedIn’s parent company Microsoft has invested billions of dollars in OpenAI and uses the GPT language model for its Bing AI chatbot. According to Microsoft, there is still a queue for that chatbot, but those who register will have direct access to the Bing AI chatbot at the time of writing.
