LinkedIn has 1 billion members and is adding AI features for Premium users
LinkedIn has 1 billion registered members, the business social medium announces. At the same time, it is announcing some AI features for Premium users, including one that assesses vacancies on the platform and indicates to what extent the user meets the requirements.
Premium users can now click on the ‘Am I a good fit for this job?’ button on a vacancy posted on LinkedIn. The social media platform’s AI bot, which is based on OpenAI’s GPT-4 model, then compares the job description with the user’s profile. This indicates where the user does and does not meet the requirements, explains LinkedIn’s chief product officer, Tomer Cohen. in a blog post. Users can then also ask how they can better profile themselves for the job. The machine learning model then makes suggestions for improvements to the user profile. For example, the bot gives a tip to highlight certain work experiences and skills if these are mentioned in the vacancy requirements.
Furthermore, an AI function has been added that can summarize posts on the user’s feed. The AI also examines what the user can learn from that information. For example, in a post highlighting a startup’s success story, the AI can highlight some of the stated reasons for that success so the user can draw inspiration from them.
The new AI features were made available to a “select group” of Premium subscribers in the United States on Thursday. The cheapest Premium subscription costs 40 euros per month. It is still unclear when the AI tools will be rolled out more widely. These are not the first AI functions on LinkedIn. The social medium previously introduced a tool to write vacancy texts and make text suggestions for the user profile.
