LinkedIn adds voice messages to chat
LinkedIn has made it possible for users to send voice messages to each other. The capability is integrated into the chat service, and works similar to how voice messages can be recorded on WhatsApp.
In a blog post, LinkedIn explained how users can use the speech functionality. On both Android and iOS, it is possible to record voice messages by pressing the microphone icon, where the recording lasts as long as the button is held down; it works similar to chat service WhatsApp. Messages can be up to one minute long.
The audio file then ends up as a playable file in the chat, where the recipient can play it if desired. According to LinkedIn, the functionality should make it easier to chat on the go as there is no need to type long messages. LinkedIn also states that it should be easier for people to express themselves.
It may be some time before the voice functionality reaches everyone. The feature will be made available worldwide in the coming weeks.
