Lian Li shows prototypes of transparent ‘Open Air’ housings
Lian Li has unveiled three new cases it is working on. These are prototypes with glass side panels and openings at the front and back. The housings can be mounted on the wall, among other things.
Lian Li posts photos and specifications of the Open Air housings on his Facebook site, but adds that these are test models, which the company would like to receive feedback on. There are three models: the mini-itx case PC-05, the micro-atx case PC-06 and the atx model PC-07. Striking about the housings is the glass panel and the fact that the aluminum body does not completely enclose the system: an opening remains at the back and front. The narrow front panel contains USB ports, space for a slimline optical drive and audio ports.
Lian Li shows the housings flat and upright and the company also reports that the Open Air models can be mounted on the wall. Although these are prototypes, the manufacturer seems to be pushing through a release anyway. Lian Li also announces that there will be variants with water cooling. The PC-06S and PC-07S will support radiators of up to 360mm.
