LG recently announced its first OLED monitor, the UltraFine OLED Pro 31.5″. It has now become clear that this screen has a panel that comes from the Japanese manufacturer Joled. This company has been working on making OLED panels via an RGB for some time. -printing technique.

Joled announces the collaboration with LG for the UltraFine OLED Pro on its own website. LG previously presented this OLED monitor with model name 32EP950, but did not make it clear at the time where the OLED panel came from. LG Display was a possible supplier, but that now appears to be the Japanese Joled. This means that the screen will have a pixel structure with red, green and blue sub-pixels, instead of white sub-pixels, as with the panels that LG Display makes for the OLED televisions of various television manufacturers.

Last year, Joled started the mass production of its printed OLED panels with sizes from 10″ to 32″, which exactly falls within the size of LG’s OLED monitor. At the end of 2019, Joled already indicated that it supplies these OLED panels for high-end monitors, medical monitors and automotive displays.

An ASUS ProArt 21.6″ OLED monitor was already released in 2019, based on a printed panel from Joled. That screen cost almost 5000 euros. That price has not fallen much to date. The price of LG’s new OLED monitor has not yet been disclosed, due to the mass production at Joled, the panel supplied to LG is likely to be a bit cheaper to produce, which can translate into a relatively lower price for the final product, but the price will probably still be substantial, also because LG is aimed at professional users with the UltraFine OLED Pro.

The 32EP950 is a 31.5″ monitor with a 16:9 ratio and 4k resolution of 3840×2160 pixels. The device can display 99 percent of the DCI-P3 and AdobeRGB color spaces and appears to have a USB-C connection with Power Delivery up to 90W. In addition, there are two DisplayPort connections, an HDMI port and three USB-A ports. It is still unclear which HDMI version is supported. In any case, it is a 60Hz panel with a gray-to-gray response time of 1ms.The screen will receive a DisplayHDR 400 True Black label, which means that the maximum peak brightness will in any case not fall below 400cd/m².
