LG will make smartwatches with its own platform in addition to Android Wear
LG will make smartwatches based on its own platform, in addition to models with Android Wear. This is apparent from a site for developers that the manufacturer had online for a short time. When the first watches will be released is still unknown.
LG would like to use webOS for that, the platform it also uses for its TVs. The manufacturer has previously hinted that webOS, originally an operating system for smartphones from Palm and later HP, wants to use it for things other than TVs.
The manufacturer repeatedly used the name LG SmartWatch on the site, according to screenshots that The Verge made before the site went offline. With its round shapes, the site also hints at a circular interface and housing of the smartwatch with webOS.
If LG were to launch a new smartwatch soon, it would be the third in a few months. The South Korean electronics giant introduced the G Watch in June and presented the round and more expensive G Watch R in September.
