LG Display will start next year with the production of OLED panels that should eventually become part of 48″ OLED TVs. The 48″ panels should also be available sometime next year. Until now, the smallest OLED TVs have a diagonal of 55 “.

Oh Chang-ho, the vice president of LG Display’s TV division, said so in an interview with China Business News, South Korean newspaper The Elec reported. According to him, the release of 48″ OLED panels in 2020 is part of a strategy to maintain LG Display’s position in the high-end TV market while maintaining a presence in the standard and premium segments.

It became clear in March that LG will make 48″ OLED TVs with a 4k resolution in the future, although it was not yet clear when they would appear on the market. It is still unclear if the 48″ panels are first produced sometime in the course of 2020, it is obvious that the first 48″ OLED TVs will appear in 2021.

With 48″ OLED panels, the pixel density comes out at 91.8ppi, while that comes out at 67.8pp with the 65″ OLED panels, for example. The panel of the 88″ OLED TV with an 8k resolution, which will be released in the third quarter of this year, is the ppi 100.1.
