LG Velvet smartphone gets optional case with second screen
LG has revealed more details of its Velvet smartphone. Together with the device, the manufacturer will release a cover that contains a second screen. LG already has such an accessory for some of its recent smartphones.
LG shows the Velvet on its South Korean website and the manufacturer gives some new details. LG says that the device is 6.8 mm thick and has a width of 74.1 mm. The 6.8″ OLED screen has a 20.5:9 ratio and the housing contains stereo speakers.
The primary camera on the back uses a 48-megapixel sensor with quadbayer filter and underneath is an 8-megapixel sensor with ultra-wide angle lens. The third camera is a depth sensor with a 5-megapixel resolution.
Earlier it appeared that the device is equipped with the Snapdragon 765G-soc from Qualcomm. That is a midrange soc with an integrated 5g modem, which supports both high and low frequencies. The device will have a 4300mAh battery.
LG says the Velvet is compatible with a Stylus Pen and an LG Dual Screen accessory. Both are optional. LG has not yet given specific details about the screen cover, but previous versions for other smartphones involve a cover with a screen that is identical to the primary phone screen. By connecting the accessory, the Android phone can be used with two screens.
LG will release the Velvet smartphone in South Korea on May 15. It is not known whether the device is also for sale in Europe and the manufacturer has not yet announced a price. LG previously said it would present the device on May 7, but now almost all details are known.
